When I consistently make posts, prepare videos, deliver speeches, and organize meetings or small rally's, the most common criticism directed at me and our members is this: “stop talking and start doing something,” or some other similarly absurd remark. Of course, the people who say such things have never done anything in the political arena, and I am certain they have no idea what “doing something” actually means. I am also certain they say this to justify their own laziness and inactivity. They want to create the impression that they are the ones “taking action,” while people like us are “only talking,” but in reality it’s the exact opposite. The real empty talkers are these people themselves: they boast and talk big, but won’t lift a finger or sacrifice even a small comfort in their lives, because deep down they are cowardly scoundrels.
People who speak this way have either learned nothing from history or simply have no understanding of how real revolutions emerge and develop. They are so ignorant, degenerate, simple-minded, and shortsighted that they cannot comprehend that every major movement or revolution begins with the smallest and most basic steps. They also fail to understand that no matter how willing or enthusiastic a person may be, if the situation is not yet ripe, no practical action is possible. But this does not mean that we should sit idly by, arms crossed, waiting for some opportunity to magically appear. We must prepare for it, and history has shown time and again that the window of opportunity always opens. And those who were prepared were the ones who succeeded and shaped history.
You don’t need to look far for an example. Our freedom fighters, who liberated Artsakh thirty years ago, could never have done it if the situation hadn’t matured for such an operation. They had boundless courage and were fully devoted to our nation, but even they could not have liberated Artsakh, for example, in the early 1980s, no matter how much they wanted to. History gave them that opportunity during the collapse of the Soviet Union, and within the limits of their capabilities they acted at the right moment and liberated our lands.
Today we have several advantages they did not have: the ability to unite, organize, and prepare in advance. During the Soviet era, they could not freely form organizations, recruit people, or promote a clear national ideology without facing serious persecution and danger. But today we are at least able to do all of that in the shadows—even if the system’s media intentionally ignores and dismisses us. This is why, when the Soviet Union collapsed, everything was extremely disorganized—they could barely manage to hold gatherings or form fighting units in the final moments. They were caught off guard and unprepared to make the most out of the crisis. And if they could liberate Artsakh even in that state of disorganization, just imagine what they could have accomplished had they been able to prepare for years in advance.
In any case, today we have this vital advantage—the ability to prepare ahead of time—and we are obligated to use it fully, so that when the next window of opportunity opens, we are ready to build a truly national state. This time we do not have the right to allow treacherous forces to seize the state, as they did in the early 90s. This time we must guarantee that the same mistake is not repeated, because this time everything will be very different…
