Thirty-five years ago, on this very day, after spending 70 years under Soviet tyranny, we restored our independence, but, unfortunately, only in a de jure sense, because Armenia continued to remain under the influence of the Russo-Jewish Empire. Our country's political arena, army, infrastructure, and economy continued to remain dependent on Moscow, just as a servant remains dependent on his master. It was unquestionably a conspiracy that our neo-Bolshevik political elite, sold out to the Kremlin, instead of declaring themselves the successor of the First Republic of Armenia at the time, created this artificial and false “Third Republic.” It is a great deception, because there cannot be a “Third Republic” if there was no “Second Republic”; it was simply a Soviet occupation.

The August 23, 1990 Declaration of Independence states: “developing the democratic traditions of the independent Republic of Armenia established on May 28, 1918.” In other words, the declaration directly connects the new statehood to the Republic of Armenia of 1918, but it does not say, “The Republic of Armenia is the legal successor of the Republic of 1918,” which was a grave mistake.

The irony is that we did not become the successor of the First Republic, even though Armenian statehood was recognized at the international level in 1920, while the question of its western borders reached the Treaty of Sèvres and Wilson’s arbitral award. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan became the successor of its First Republic, whose borders likewise never received a comparable international arbitral decision.

By declaring an artificial Third Republic, we simply legitimized the borders of the present-day Republic of Armenia that had been drawn in 1921 by the Russo-Jews and Turkic-Jews through the Treaties of Moscow and Kars, borders which Armenian traitors like to call “Real Armenia.” Meanwhile, Azerbaijan incorporates much of the territory of present-day Armenia into the territory of its imagined First Republic, and for this reason they continue to advance their anti-Armenian “Western Azerbaijan” program aimed at destroying Armenia. This is why the foundations of today’s semi-independent post-Soviet Armenia are fundamentally rotten, while the system is completely corrupt and treacherous.

Nevertheless, I would like to clarify one thing: when we say that we must become the successor of the First Republic, we mean adopting the legal foundations of that republic and nothing more. In other words, Armenia should consider itself the legal continuation of the First Republic of Armenia of 1918–1920, but it is not necessary to restore the form of government or internal system that existed at the time.

In any case, no matter how much we talk about documents and diplomacy, the fact remains that this world is built on relations of power, because might makes right. The document follows force, not the other way around. However, when one day we come to power through a national revolution and build a national state, our “Great Liberation” will begin, and by accepting the legal legacy of the First Republic, we will gain the legal justification for liberating our lands by force.

We are not going back into history. We are simply going to take what we need, discard what we do not need, and add what is entirely new. The Tseghakron Armenia we build for the future will be a kind of Armenia the world has never seen before.
