I often state that the Russian Empire...

I often state that the Russian Empire (as well as the American Empire) is on the verge of collapse, because it is living through its final years, and its disintegration will be more brutal than the collapses of Tsarist Russia and the Soviet Union combined. I present this as a coming positive event for the Armenian nation, because it will open a window of opportunity for us to carry out a real national revolution and build a true national state. However, many Armenians consider such a scenario dangerous, because in their view, if Russia collapses, Turkey will gain dominance in this region and Armenia will be completely Turkified, or they make similar claims.

There was a time in my life, before I became actively involved in politics and founded a movement, when I too believed this big lie. I thought that post-Soviet Russia was different from Tsarist and Soviet Russia. But later I realized that in reality the same policy continues — a policy that directly contradicts the interests of our nation. I have repeated a thousand times that Russians and Turks may hate each other, have disagreements, and even wage wars against each other, but when it comes to the Armenian question they unite against Armenia. The Turks act as our openly hostile enemy, while the Russians act as the treacherous “ally” who always backstabs us. Both advance their interests in this region at the expense of the interests of our independent statehood. They, as well as the Zionists, do everything possible to ensure that an independent, united, and powerful Armenia never emerges.

At first glance it may seem logical that without Russia, Turkey would become stronger. But history has shown us something completely different — that Russia has almost always helped the Turks in critical moments. Here are a few important historical facts:

In 1798 the French army, led by Napoleon Bonaparte, invaded Egypt, which was officially part of the Ottoman Empire. Napoleon’s goal was to weaken Great Britain by threatening the British route to India and expanding French influence in the Middle East. This was naturally a major threat first and foremost to the Ottomans themselves, yet their rescue came from Tsarist Russia. Despite the fact that Russia and the Ottoman Empire were “enemies,” Napoleon’s invasion alarmed both sides and brought them together, resulting in the Russo–Ottoman alliance against France, which lasted until 1806.

In 1920 the Ottoman Empire had already collapsed and would have continued to be partitioned if Bolshevik Russia, under the leadership of Vladimir Lenin, had not financed and armed Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The Bolsheviks did this so that the Kemalists could win the Turkish War of Independence, as a result of which the Treaty of Sèvres was annulled and in 1921 the Treaty of Moscow and the Treaty of Kars (the so called "Treaty of Brotherhood") were signed, and later in 1923 the Treaty of Lausanne, which established the modern Turkish state.

In 2016, when a coup attempt was carried out against the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, neo-Bolshevik Russia under the leadership of Vladimir Putin came to his aid by warning him in advance about the coup attempt. According to various sources, Russian intelligence intercepted communications between Turkish officers and warned Erdoğan, which resulted in the further consolidation of the neo-Kemalist tyrannical regime in Turkey.

I am not even mentioning many other facts, such as how the treacherous war of 2020 and the ethnic cleansing of Armenians from Artsakh would never have happened without the permission and support of the Kremlin.

Thus, we can see that over the last 250 years the Russian Empire — in its various forms (Tsarist, Soviet, and Putinist) — has saved Turkey from serious danger at least three times in completely different times. What the situation of the Turks would be today if Russian policy had not taken such a pro-Turkish stance during these critical moments, only the Creator knows. However, from all this we can conclude that the widespread claim that “without Russia Turkey will become stronger” is a great lie that does not correspond to historical reality. The truth is that as a result of the final collapse of the Russian Empire, it is very likely that Turkey may suffer the same fate. This could create the perfect conditions for a true Armenian national revival and the restoration of a Greater Armenia.
