There are far too many political organizations and parties in Armenia, and their numbers keep growing by the day. But our movement is different in many ways and meanings — one of which became clear to me a few months ago. Every political movement I’ve seen in Armenia has either been created and developed by financial orders or built on the basis of nepotism and personal connections, where all the members have had some kind of prior relationship — whether as relatives, acquaintances, classmates, or former colleagues. But when I founded “The Current” as an unknown repatriate and an ordinary frontline soldier, I had no one beside me. My pockets were almost empty, and the overwhelming majority of political forces stood against me. And those who later took interest, offered support, and eventually joined did so for the true ideas and values of the movement — because none of us had any kind of prior connection: no relatives, no classmates, no fellow servicemen, not even childhood friends. How many other political movements like that do you know in Armenia? We all come from different places, with completely different pasts — yet we’ve united around the same mission: to build a strong, independent Armenia — Greater Armenia — because that is our nation’s thousand-year-old, sacred mission. And we know that only around such a great, uncompromising goal is it possible to truly unite our people, because half-measures have always failed, and will continue to fail. I know that right now we are still a small movement, with very limited resources compared to the major political forces, and for the majority of Armenia we remain some unknown “marginal” and “unimportant” group. But I have no doubt that the day will come when our movement will play a vital role in restoring order in our Fatherland and raising our Nation to its feet once again — because instead of fleeing from that personal responsibility, we have chosen to carry it on our shoulders, for the sake of our heroic ancestors and future generations. Today is Easter, and as I extend my congratulations to everyone, I also want to say that just as Jesus of Nazareth on this day triumphed over death and rose again, so too — through our far-sighted and unwavering struggle — the spirit of Nzhdeh and Tseghakronism will conquer death and rise once more, igniting the spark that will illuminate the world. One Nation, One State, One Will Glory to the Armenian and to Victory
