When Armenian nationalists begin to speak against Kremlin policies, they are almost always labeled by many, especially our pro-Russian compatriots, as “Western agents” or something similar. Of course, there are so-called agents of Western influence who purely protect “Western” interests, ignoring our nation’s needs for a progressive, healthy, and developing society. We oppose these “Western-oriented” individuals dressed in national garb just as much as we oppose pro-Russians wearing the same disguise. Nevertheless, an Armenian national figure sincerely engaged in politics cannot live like an “ostrich.” They must acknowledge the plain truth that we oppose Kremlin policies because these policies have almost always contradicted—and continue to contradict—our national interests. When Russia sank its claws into this region at the beginning of the 19th century, it did everything possible over the next two hundred years to prevent the formation of an independent and powerful Armenia. They have always opposed and continue to oppose the creation of such an Armenia because it would hinder their pursuit of hegemony in this region. In the South Caucasus, they see the potential for building a powerful national state mostly within us Armenians. As we know, for any empire or government with imperial ambitions, this is the number one threat. In this matter, Russian, Turkish, and particularly Zionist-Jewish interests have coincided, which is why they have collaborated—and continue to collaborate—against Armenia. This is why Russia has been our “frenemy” and has always tried to strike us from behind just as we began to stand on our own feet. Afterward, it has continuously sought to keep us dependent on them in nearly every matter. Many find it hard to accept the bitter truth that if Armenia were to truly establish a national state and begin to liberate its ancestral lands, Russia would openly ally with Turkey against our Fatherland. This is why our “anti-Russian” stance only exists so long as the anti strong Armenia policies of the Kremlin exist. We would have no problem with Russia or, in general, with the Russian people if Russia abandoned its imperial ambitions and ceased to continuously trample on our national interests. Accepting this, we understand that in this region, we can only be allies with Iran, and we may also try to build alliances with the West, though we must never forget that as long as we pin our hopes on foreign powers (especially Russia), we will continue to be disappointed, defeated, and, ultimately, destroyed. Yes, we must conduct flexible diplomacy, but that diplomacy will be worthless if those conducting it lack a national political stance, and that stance must stem from a vision of building a truly independent and powerful Armenia. We can gain real allies only by using our internal resources and uniting, and we can do this by awakening the ancient Aryan warrior spirit with which we built a Greater Armenia thousands of years ago. One Nation, One State, One Will Misht Hay!
