In Japanese mythology, “Tengu” is a type of legendary creature found in Shinto belief, which embodies and symbolizes deception and the chaotic forces of nature. For a long time, Buddhism viewed the Tengu as destabilizing demons and harbingers of war. They are also known for abducting children. Tengu are always depicted with a long nose, a long mustache, and a black box attached to their head. In their hand, they almost always hold a "Tora no Maki," which literally translates to "The Scroll of Torah."
