Even if, as Putin demands, their so-called “peace treaty” between Russia and Ukraine is signed, it will in no way be a victory for the Kremlin—regardless of how much the white Turks try to present it as such. Russians love to boast and have made thousands of films claiming that 80 years ago, in just four years, they “single-handedly” defeated “fascist” Germany—almost never mentioning that without the massive support of the West (through Lend-Lease and by opening a second front) they could never have done it, not even in their dreams. If not for their cooperation and the Jewish alliance between them, they would never have been able to crush the wave of nationalism in Europe.

Russians like to portray Hitler as a “project of England or America” in order to claim that they supposedly defeated the entire West in World War II. But if Moscow “single-handedly” defeated the “collective Nazi West” in four years 80 years ago, then why has it been unable, in these four years, to bring Ukraine to its knees and incorporate it into the Russian Federation, which was its goal from the very beginning?

At best, after having about a million casualties and crippling its own economy, it will merely annex Donbas to Russia and secure a guarantee that Ukraine will not join NATO. Outwardly, the Kremlin can present this through its deceitful propaganda as a “victory,” but it cannot fool millions of its own citizens—nor can it fool itself. Russia, of course, won 80 years ago, but this time it failed for a very simple reason: back then the West was its ally and supported it in every way, while this time the West was an opponent (though not an outright enemy) and was indirectly working against it.

With this war, Russia has dug its own grave, just as the Soviet Union did during the Soviet–Afghan war. Let the Kremlin enjoy its “victory” while it still can, because it—just like the American empire—is living through its final years.
